Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Presentation of the development of the Toia-theme in Latin literature, starting from the homeric tradition (Virgil, Ovid, Ilias Latina) over the so-called fake romances in late antiquity (Diktys, Dares) to their reception in the medieval Latin epic (e. g. Smon Aurea Capra, Ioseph Iscanus, Albert from Stade); also the influence of and reception in the vernacular lterature will be presented (Roman de Troie by Benoît de Ste.-Maure, Middle-High-German poems about Troia). Representative passages of every author will be discussed and interpreted.
