Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course, is not intended as a course of Grammar and writing, but its main aim is to provide the necessary linguistic tools for all those who approach Arabic for the first time and wish to do field work in the Middle East and North Africa. Students will learn words, terms and phrases related to excavation, survey, architectural terms, equipment, numbers, time, food, social pleasantries etc. to help them to communicate in a direct, effective and friendly manner and learn more about the countries and the people that they may encounter in their professional life.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students are required to prepare a booklet in German and Arabic (transliterated) that may be useful not only for them but for other students of the German speaking countries.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
regular and active participation 60% - booklet entry 40% Participation is required and only missing two lectures is allowed.
