Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course aims at a profound perspective on the principal themes, methods and problems of each of the major areas in linguistics (with a strong focus on topics relevant for German). Discussions are essential in order to encourage the strive for deeper understanding, practical exercises aim at consolidating the basic knowledge.

Assessment and permitted materials

4 home exercises, 4 short tests recapitulating the homeworks (3 out of 4 are mandatory).
final exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The final grade is calculated on basis of achieved points, max. points is 100 (max. 24 for home exercises, max. 27 for short tests, max. 49 for final exam). Minimum requirement: more than half of achievable points (i.e., more than 50).

All topics that have been presented during the course and have also been declared as relevant for the exam. A precise listing of these topics will be made available.
