Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to consolidate and deepen knowledge and skills in the French language at B1 level, both written and oral.
On that purpose, we will work on authentic documents - press articles, extracts from literary texts, broadcasts and audio-visual reports, film extracts, cartoons and graphics, etc. - to broaden vocabulary, and in particular to develop idioms. - to expand vocabulary and, in particular, to develop idioms.
In addition to the grammar programme, we will be practising written expression in the production of narrative and argumentative texts. In oral production, several presentations on current affairs in France and the French-speaking world will be given each week by students chosen at random. These presentations will then give rise to discussions on the themes covered, and to individual feedback at the end of the course or during my office hours.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment ("Prüfungsimmanenz"): regular attendance (3 justified absences authorised for the duration of the semester) and active participation in lessons, presentations (based on current events in France and the French-speaking world, to be prepared EVERY WEEK as students are selected randomly), three written assignments.
