Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

-An analysis of the concept of "fantastic";
-Understanding some canonical texts of Romanian fantasy;
-Integrating the fantastic in a wider literary and cultural context.

Methods: interactive, comparative, with emphasis on debate.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral exam at the end of the semester and presentation during the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

-active attendance at the seminar;
-presentation of the fantastic specifics of a given text.

Examination topics

-Text analysis (popular fairy tale, M. Eminescu, I.L Caragiale, I. Minulescu, M. Eliade, V. Voiculescu).
-Theoretical problematization (Excerpt from Tzvetan Todorov, „Introducere
în literatura fantastică”).
