Aims, contents and method of the course

Die Lehrveranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit der Settimana della Lingua italiana statt, die dieses Jahr dem Theater gewidmet ist, und macht ausgehend vom späten 18. Jahrhundert das Zusammenspiel der Geschichte des Theaters Venedigs und Neapels mit orientalisierenden Diskurse zum Thema. Letztere haben im Vorfeld des Risorgimento nicht nur eine unterhaltende Funktion, indem sie das Publikum in unbekannte Weltgegenden einführen, sondern sie sind eng mit nationalen und imperialistischen Diskursen verbunden, die zur Stabilisierung des Eigenen im Sinn einer ersehnten Einigung Italiens dienen. Gleichzeitig wird in vielen Stücken Neapels aber nicht nur der arabische Raum, sondern auch die Stadt selbst als das 'Andere' Italiens inszeniert.
Anhand ausgewählter Texte aus dem Umfeld der beiden großen Theaterstädte der Zeit, Venedig und Neapel, werden diese Verflechtungen untersucht. Dabei stehen v.a. Tragikomödien und Buffo-Opern von Carlo Gozzi, Giuseppe Palomba und Francesco Cerlone im Fokus: "Zobeide" (1763) und "I pitocchi fortunati" (1764) von Gozzi; "Il corsaro algerino" (1765) von Palomba; "L'Osteria di Marechiaro" (1768/69) von Cerlone.
Am 16.Oktober um 15.15 findet in ROM 5 ein verpflichtender Vortrag von Vincenzo Mercurio im Rahmen der Settimana della Lingua italiana statt: “Lingue e linguaggi del teatro” (dafür fällt eine Einheit aus).

Gli studenti sono in grado di applicare gli strumenti dell'analisi cinematografico in funzione alla tematica del corso: partecipazione attiva/relazione: 40%; dossier/tesina: 60%.
