Aims, contents and method of the course

FOR THE FIRST SESSION ON OCTOBER, 6th, PLEASE USE THE ENROLMENT TOOL ON MOODLE IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND THE LECTURE COURSE IN PERSON!

he course aims at providing students with a critical toolkit enabling them to understand - and apply - the basic concepts of literary criticism and to approach and analyse literary texts autonomously.

This lecture course will
- provide an introduction to basic questions of literary studies, such as text analysis, narratology, figures of speech, historicization, interpretation and literary theory;
- make students familiar with the purpose, terminology, and praxis of literary criticism,
- give a survey of the major literary genres and the special problems relating to them.
