Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar deals with five selected Shakespeare comedies.
Assessment and permitted materials
Class participation, oral presentation, essay (22-25 pages), and final written test.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The students are acquainted with form, content, and style of Shakespeare's comedies and their social and political context, with major dramatic conventions, problems of interpretation and new approaches to Shakespeare criticism (f.e. New Historicism, Feminist Studies).
Examination topics
Oral presentations in class followed by discussions.

Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It and Twelfth Night, or What You Will (The New Arden Shakespeare or Oxford Shakespeare).
