Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is aimed at preparing and supporting students in writing their masters theses in the MEd programme. We will discuss practical questions surrounding the organisation and design of an MEd project, as well as relevant research methods. Specific focus will be given to the need for a coherent, theoretically well-founded design, which uses appropriate methods to answer research questions. Students can develop a project over the course of the semester or come prepared with a project idea.

Examination topics

There will be no sit-down exam. Students need to prepare a suitable thesis project for the MEd English and have reasonable freedom in terms of subject choice. A project for English MEd needs to be developed regardless of whether this will turn into an actual thesis or not (e.g. if the thesis is written in the second subject). Rationale, theory and method need to be presented in a coherent and clear relation.
