Gertrude Stein considered these uprooted writers a new literary generation, calling them “the lost generation.” Far from divesting themselves of their American identities, these pilgrims found in Europe a place to write and a place to write about.
We will try to trace their efforts to establish themselves by looking at texts by authors such as Gertrude Stein, F.Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Langston Hughes and others.
