Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This is an interactive seminar-type course for students embarking on, or already working on their Diplomarbeit or Dissertation (PhD thesis). The seminar will give participants the opportunity to discuss not only the progress of their own work but also issues arising from it of a more general theoretical or practical interest.
Assessment and permitted materials
In order to get credit for this course, students will present their own ongoing research and give feedback to each other. At the end of the course, there will be an oral exam on a selection of texts concerning the ideas and principles of theoretical and empirical enquiry.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Examination topics
Participants will collaborate in the close and critical examination of ideas about language and language study. Giving and receiving feedback and support for thesis work is an important aspect of this course.
Reading list
A list of suggested readings will be provided during of the course; participants will be invited to add their own titles to this list.
