Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
By close-reading Key Art, (i.e. promotional material for movies like film posters, movie trailers, movie websites) students will be guided through the 'Circuit of Culture', relating the moments of representation, consumption, production, identity and regulation. The class aims at analysing the signifying processes and discourses of these 'ordinary' cultural texts/practices and will therefore tackle aspects of audiences, of visual design and narratology and of the film industry.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance, class participation, short inclass presentations, final portfolio covering the readings and a write-up of individual study projects.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course aims at enhancing visual literacy, media literacy and doing Cultural Studies
Examination topics
In-class discussions/presentations on the basis of reading/research assignments; e-learning & online particitainment.
