Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar will begin with an examinations of some of the major theories that have shaped British cultural studies. These will include culturalism, structuralism, various versions of Marxism, psychoanalysis, feminism, poststructuralism, and postmodernism. The seminar will then consider some of the major themes and debates that have made a major
contribution to the developement of British cultural studies. These will include issues and debates around culture and power, cultural memory, cultural identities, cultural value, production and consumption, and globalization.

The aim of the seminar is to critically engage with the intellectual and pedagogic formation of British cultural studies.
