Aims, contents and method of the course

Presentation of research profile of the department:

Huber: Celtic tiger Ireland (intermediality, drama and film)
Mengel: Contemporary South African novel; cultural transfer, drama and theatre
Rubik: Restoration fiction, travel fiction, colonial fiction, cognitive poetics, cultural transfer of American plays to Vienna stages
Weiss: 19th and 20th century drama and theatre; literature and music; narratology and the contemporary British novel
Zacharasiewicz: Transatlantic identities and retrospection in Canadian literature; transatlantic exchanges: between the American South and Europe

Assessment and permitted materials

Final written test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Survey of research of scholars in Anglophone literatures; introduce students to fields of interest (represented in the MA curriculum of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures by alternative module groups); offer students a selection of potential topics for M.A. theses and "Diplomarbeiten".
