Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims:
- to speak fluently and effectively in various forms of interaction and production
- to have expert knowledge of the characteristics of spoken language and classroom discourse
- to have practical analytical skills, e.g. for monitoring and analyzing the speech of learners
- to facilitate access to knowledge and concepts through spoken language

Methods:
Communicative language practice based on the discussion of theoretical concepts, presentations, role-plays.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on an in-class presentation, class participation, assignments/portfolio, and a final oral exam, which involves a presentation and spoken interaction.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance (max. 2 absences)

1. Course work (20%)
2. Final exam: presentation (40%)
3. Final exam: interaction (40%)

Prerequisites for taking the exam: in-class presentation, portfolio, written feedback assignment
Assessment grid: see worksheets on Moodle

Grading scale:
1 (sehr gut) 100-90%;
2 (gut) 89-80%;
3 (befriedigend) 79-70%;
4 (genügend) 69-60%;
5 (nicht genügend) 59-0%.
