This course focuses on oral production, interaction and mediation skills for teachers of English. It develops discourse skills relevant to the educational domain, such as explaining concepts, giving instructions, checking understanding, initiating and moderating discussions, facilitating collaboration, encouraging conceptual talk, and critically evaluating contributions. The course also discusses characteristic features of spoken language, including classroom discourse, and provides ample opportunity for practice. Students will learn to make effective use of body language, intonation, voice, turn-taking devices and lexico-grammatical means to interact successfully in educational contexts.Aims:- to speak fluently and effectively in various forms of interaction and production- to have expert knowledge of the characteristics of spoken language- to have practical analytical skills, e.g. for monitoring and analyzing the speech of learners- to facilitate access to knowledge and concepts through spoken languageMethods:Communicative language practice based on the discussion of theoretical concepts, presentations, role plays
