Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this PhD seminar, we will share theories, concepts and methods that students encounter and use in their PhD projects. We will discuss how these concepts travel across different subject areas, agendas and research paradigms. Students will also have an opportunity to discuss and present their research projects in a variety of formats (among others, science slam, poster, formal presentation) and have it challenged by their peers. The class is also intended to support students' time management skills, project management and other skills that are helpful in the process of writing a thesis.

Students will be expected to
• read short texts or watch videos which will be posted on moodle in preparation for each class
• prepare short presentations of their projects in a variety of formats
• participate in classroom discussion
• submit three pieces that relate their PhD project to the concepts and theories we have discussed, based on prior reading and research (one can be the exposé for the dies doctoralis).
Presence and participation is mandatory. Students can have two absences and need to make sure they bring themselves up to date on tasks and readings if they miss a class.
