Aims, contents and method of the course

In this class, we will be looking at the uses of literature and film in the EFL classroom. We will explore the aims and principles as well as practical applications of literature and film in foreign language learning via a broad range of materials, leaving room for students to align their work with their own interests.

Please note that there will be a mini conference on Saturday 10 May, from 9.30am to 4pm. Participation in the mini conference is obligatory!
(There will be no classes after 16 May).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- to learn about the benefits of teaching literature and film in the EFL classroom and ways and methods of how to teach them

- to get to know a range of texts and materials that can be used in foreign language teaching

- to gain teaching experience

Examination topics

group work, class discussions, short presentations, guided reading, individual teaching projects; at selected schools: class observation, teaching a lesson.
