Aims, contents and method of the course
CLIL has been around for a while now as is increasingly gaining momentum in basically all areas of the Austrian school system.In this course we will have a look at the theories and conceps which are essential to teach CLIL successfully in the language classroom, as well as hands-on example materials you will develop and try out yourselves. We will touch the main areas of teaching content in a foreign language, will critically reflect on CLIL's potential and its limits.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be based on continuous assessment (participation, home assignments), students' own projects, and a final written assignment of about 3,000 words.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The major aims are to
* develop a basic understanding of fundamental concepts in teaching content in a foreign language
* understand how technology may support language learning and teaching and where its limits are
* know how to evaluate and implement materials available on the internet into one's own teaching
* get to know a variety of different approaches through discussion, own design of materials and peer feedback

Examination topics
Discussion of readings, critical evaluation of materials used and designed, development of and reflection on own tasks and learning sequences, group work
