Aims, contents and method of the course
In this class we will explore some of the key texts of English literature from a wide range of critical perspectives, variously focusing on aspects of literary genre, theory, and history.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance and active participation in classroom discussions, assignments, oral presentation (plus PowerPoint slides), final written test
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Participants will practise their skills in the critical analysis and interpretation of poetry, drama, and narrative fiction and will deepen their knowledge of concepts, terminology, and critical approaches central to the study of literary texts.

Copies of the books on the reading list - Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights (London: Penguin, 2011); Henry James, The Turn of the Screw (Oxford World's Classics, 2008); Toni Morrison, Beloved (London: Vintage, 2007) - will be ordered and available at the bookshop Facultas am Campus.A reader containing primary texts and secondary material will be available for purchase at the CopyStudio Schwarzspanierstraße at the beginning of term. Early reading is advised!
