Aims, contents and method of the course
This course provides an introduction to the currently most important research methods in linguistics; specifically methods of data collection such as elicitation, questionnaires, interviews; corpus compilation and analysis, statistical analysis, qualitative data analysis.

This course aims
- to develop an awareness of the specific research methods necessary for investigating students own research questions (especially their MA theses)
- to provide hands-on experience with a range of different methods
- to develop an understanding of the interdependence of research interest and method
- to develop an awareness of the practical implications of different research strategies and the time and effort involved
