Aims, contents and method of the course

Im Laufe des 20. Jahrhunderts haben zahlreiche ungarische Migranten mehrere Jahre in Österreich verbracht und dabei sowohl der ungarischen und der österreichischen als auch der internationalen Kultur wesentliche Impulse gegeben. Die Tätigkeit dieser Migranten ist sehr unterschiedlich erforscht, was sowohl den Schwierigkeiten des Zugangs zu Archivmaterial als auch ideologischen Verzerrungen des Jahrhunderts zuzuschreiben ist. Im Seminar wird eine Reihe von exemplarischen Fälle untersucht. Im Vordergrund steht die Vielfalt der hier einzusetzenden methodischen Zugänge: Biographieforschung, Archivarbeit, Zusammenführung von Literaturgeschichte mit politischer Geschichte, Kulturgeschichte und Wissenschaftsgeschichte sowie die Narratologie.
Die exemplarische Fälle sind (in Klammer die Wiener Jahre): Lajos Hatvany (1919-1927), Béla Balázs (1919-1926), Georg Lukács (1919-1929), Anna Lesznai (1919-1930), Lajos Kassák (1919-1926), Johannes Wilde (1915-1939), Arnold Hauser (1924-1938), Tibor Déry (1920-1923), Tibor Hanák (1949-1999), György Sebestyén (1956-1990), Alpár Bujdosó (seit 1956) und Zoltán Zsile (1980-1987).
