Aims, contents and method of the course

Harmless, rough hero, whose touch to Europe provokes continuous misunderstandings, predictable historic transformation of the surviving, sturdy Bulgarian (according to the Gesemanns theory) or monstrous social phenomenon, prospering in Bulgaria during the 90s of the XIX century? Is this a pure aesthetical creature or the contrary, never stepped in the brutal reality? Until what point the famous character is specific regional occurrence and is it universal? All these aspects of the key figure in the Bulgarian literature should have find their answers in a productive interpretation in this conversatorium.

Assessment and permitted materials

Essays on characteristic theme groups and symbolic main bodies in the work "Bay Ganyo".

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Not only to achieve thorough literary competency for the period of the 90s of the XIX century but also to become experts in the cultural and logic base confront of the East - West/Europe - Orient.

Examination topics

Discussing of significant episodes, scenes and situations of Aleko Konstanitov literary work.
