Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture is dedicated, to some extent also historically, to the library as the place where literature is created and archived, and which at the same time stands as a short formula for the accumulation of the totality of all texts. Works that deal with the production, possession or preservation of books, namely in the setting of the library, obey certain rules that operate beneath the surface of the text. Moreover, the library as a fascinatingly multifaceted figure of thought develops a tremendous momentum of its own both in the production of new texts and in the formation of aesthetic theory. It would require an unmanageable catalogue of texts, especially from the 20th century, to name only the most important examples of literary libraries. It is decisive that comparative literature has made many attempts in the recent past to record, interpret and contextualise the library motif, which are to be presented. A basic approach of the lecture is the anthropological perspective, which precedes an analysis of the aesthetic realisations, i.e. the production of multiform textual libraries. Text excerpts, images and bibliographic references will be made available on Moodle in good time.
