As early as 1938, Béla Balázs wrote the following important statement in his essay On the Philosophy of Art of the Film: "The camera identifies us not only spatially but also emotionally with the characters of the film." Rakkurs and physiognomy show us every expression, as it corresponds to the impression of the participant What he hates also seems ugly to us, and what pleases him seems to us beautiful. " It is exactly these identification dynamics that are so characteristic of the medium of cinema that are the ones that make the star system so interesting. Edgar Morin says the stars represent the new myths of modernity. These stars of cinema are like in antiquity on a level with heroes and gods. Christan Metz and Roland Dyer believe that within a collective discourse, the movie star takes many forms and becomes an intertextual paradigm in perpetual change. In the seminar, we will deal with the world-famous models of the Italian "divismo": Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni and with exactly these many exciting questions about the star system in the Cinema.
The seminar also provides for voluntary participation in the PÁZMÁNY FILM FESTIVAL - INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, (Budapest).
The objectives of the course can be summarized as follows:a) Introduction to Film Theory and Film Analysis.
b) Introduction to the basic problem of the film star system based on film examples.
c) Introduction to the biography of Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni.
d) Filmography with Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni.
