Aims, contents and method of the course

Am Beispiel der Kulturgeschichte Irans unterzieht die Lehrveranstaltung Konzepte wie kulturelle Identität, Kulturkontakt, Akkulturation oder Transkulturation einer kritischen theoretischen und historischen Sichtung. Wir werden dazu konkrete Beispiele aus unterschiedlichen Bereichen – zum Beispiel Sprache, Religion, Wissenschaft, Recht, politische Ordnungsvorstellungen – analysieren. Die Fallbeispiele kommen vor allem aus Iran, Zentralasien und auch Indien, aber auch globalere Zusammenhänge werden eine Rolle spielen. Texte sowie visuelle und materielle Quellen von der Antike bis in die Gegenwart werden besprochen.
Die LV ist eine Kombination von Vorlesung und gemeinsamer Analyse und Diskussion von Fallbeispielen.

Assessment and permitted materials

Schriftliche Prüfung. Erster Termin in der letzten Vorlesungseinheit (ingesamt 4 Prüfungstermine).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Schriftliche Prüfung auf der Grundlage der auf moodle zur Verfügung gestellten Skripte und Materialien. Die genauen Prüfungsmodalitäten werden im Lauf des Semesters bekanntgegeben.
