Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the course paleography we will practise the deciphering and reading of ancient, handwritten Arabic texts. We will further look at paleographical as well as codicological criteria of manuscripts (such as colophons, catch words, quire marks). Additionally, the question of how one establishes an edition on the basis of one or several manuscripts will be discussed.
