Aims, contents and method of the course
Engaging the historical diversity of Qur'anic commentaries
Assessment and permitted materials
BA thesis; presentation; active participation
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Analyzing classical Qur'anic commentaries. Attempting to understand the texts.
Examination topics
Reading and analyzing texts and discourses, and situating them in their historical contexts; introduction into working with classical Arabic language texts. A willingness to engage in independent research and translation is essential. Presence during the first meeting is absolutely mandatory.
