Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Reading of Arabic political and religious key texts as well as classical and modern poetry and prose. Reading of poems (Nizar Qabbani, Imru l-Qays), prose (Ghassan Kanafani, al-Hariri), religious texts (Quran, Bible), listening to political speeches (Nasser '61 and '67, Sadat '73)
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular preparation, active collaboration, term paper at the end of semester
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Middle Eastern linguistic and cultural competence, practice of research methodology
Examination topics
Shared reading of texts, individual search for background information
