This course is dedicated to the analysis of diverse Arabic media sources. These include newspaper articles, TV programmes, and political speeches. The aim is to familiarize students with a variety of media formats in Arabic as well as the vocabulary most commonly used in media contexts.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Familiarity with the vocabulary most commonly used in media contexts. Reading and listening comprehension.

Assessment and permitted materials

Two compulsory written exams. Classroom participation and written homework assignments. Attendance compulsory (3 unexplained absences are acceptable).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Prerequisite for participation is the completion of AR-4.
The grades will be calculated as follows:
25% Classroom participation and homework assignments
25% Mid-term exam
50% End of term exam

Examination topics

Exams are based on the topics covered during the course.
