Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course will deal with the famous code of laws of the Old Babylonian king Hammurabi. The code consists of three parts: a prologue, a central part containing the list of laws, and an epilogue. The course will focus on the first and the third part of the code . The aim of the course is to improve the knowledge of Akkadian grammar and the cuneiform script.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course's aim is to improve the students' knowledge of Akkadian grammar and of the cuneiform script and to introduce them to the genre of the monumental inscriptions
Examination topics
the text will be read in class; students are required to prepare for this; in addition, they will give short presentations on pertinent topics.
Reading list
Bibliographical references will be given in the first meeting of the class.
