Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The history of Development Studies at the University of Vienna has been (as is well known) turbulent. The Bachelor Seminar will search for the beginnings, the changes and current problems of these studies concerning organisation as well as content. This will be done by compiling and documenting facts, by a critical debate of contents and the organizational and administrative context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active cooperation, participation in debates, preparatory texts, final Bachelor thesis of at least 60.000 characters including blanks with scientifically defensible content and appropriate form. If students have changed to the Bachelor curriculum 2011, the final Bachelor thesis has to comprise at least 95.000 characters including blanks. By request of students part of the Bachelor thesis may be media projects.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The Bachelor Seminar will teach students to work independently, and in a correct way with respect to content and methods.
Examination topics
Inquiries, interviews, (group) discussions, writing workshop, short oral presentations, etc.
