Aims, contents and method of the course

The (research) course tries to further a better understanding of transformation movements in the Arab world from the 17th to the 19th century CE.
Methods used: Presentation, active participation, paper; discussion at academic level.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presentation, active participation, paper; it is obligatory to be present in the first session of the course.
You will have to use the literature and and material announced in the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Preparing a short presentation, active classroom participation, writing a paper; willingness and competence to work with Arabic langugage sources and English language research literature.
Grading: short presentation 20%, active participation 20%, final paper 60%; positive: more than 50%
