Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Die herausragendsten Sängerinnen und Sänger der arabischen Musik des 20. Jahrhunderts bis zur Gegenwart wie Umm Kulthum, Farid al-Atrasch, Asmahan, Fayruz, Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab, Abd al-Halim Hafiz, Muhammad Abduh und Talal Maddah stehen im Mittelpunkt des Seminars.
Es wird auf die Biographie, das künstlerische Schaffen und die Musikstücke dieser Persönlichkeiten eingegangen.
WICHTIG: Hervorragende Arabischkenntnisse (Hocharabisch und verschiedene arabische Dialekte) sind unbedingt Voraussetzung, zumal arabischsprachige Lieder eigenständig übersetzt werden müssen!
Studium von Texten; Referate; Heranziehung arabischer Quellen sowie Sekundärliteratur.

Assessment and permitted materials

Vorbereitung, Mitarbeit, Referat, Erstellung eines Handouts und Abfassung einer Seminararbeit.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Eingehende Kenntnisse der modernen arabischen Musik und ihrer größten Vertreter auf der Arabischen Halbinsel sowie in Nordafrika.
