Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Development actors as well as development strategies, instruments and development issues and topics will be in the focus of this course. Critically we will discuss the history as well as the current state of devepment aid and the context and the negotiations of topics, strategies and policies. Scientific literature as well as documents of the relevant actors will be analysed. Relevant thematic issues which will be analysed are for example the future of aid, gender and development, migration and development, the SDGs as well as aid effectiveness.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance, written excercises, group work and presentations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of the course is to provide an introduction into development policy and practice. Knowledge about development strategies, actors and relevant paradigm as well as a critical perspective of 'development' and development policy will be the outcome of this course.

Examination topics

Active participation, short inputs, written excercises and group work.
