Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Das 2. Jahrtausend v. Chr., insbesondere die Zeit ab ca. 1500 v. u. Z., ist in Mesopotamien und der Levante durch weitreichende Kontakte mit den umliegenden Regionen (Ostmittelmeerraum, Ägäis, Anatolien, Zypern, Ägypten, etc.) geprägt. Diese sollen anhand verschiedener Fundgattungen (z. B. Elfenbein, Metall, Glyptik, Keramik, Wandmalerei, Architektur) und ihren Kontexten herausgearbeitet und diskutiert werden. Spezifische Probleme und Aspekte dieser Periode, wie z. B. Chronologie oder die Frage nach einem ‚International Style‘ sollen ebenfalls behandelt werden. Weiters soll ein kritischer Umgang mit archäologischen Funden und Befunden sowie der dazugehörigen Fachliteratur vermittelt werden.

Assessment and permitted materials

Aktive Mitarbeit, Referat, schriftliche Ausarbeitung des Referats unter Einbeziehung der Diskussion nach dem Referat.
