Aims, contents and method of the course
In the first part of this introductory lecture to the Master in Development Studies the goals of the master curriculum (contents, methods) will be presented with a view to its interdisciplinary approach in instruction and research. In the second part of the lecture diverse perspectives and approaches will be presented and discussed by making use of three fields of transdisciplinary research (migration, racism, growth) developing a transdisciplinary approach.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written test with open questions pertaining to the lectures and obligatory readings as well as the minutes of one lecture.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The lecture class will provide an overview and deepened insight to exemplary fields of development research and available approaches.
Examination topics
Lecture classes including discussions with teachers and other members of the Research Platform Development Studies. In addition, it is intended to form working groups to prepare for and deepen understanding of the topics and approaches presented.
