Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
"Tribes in the Medieval Islamic World"This course will focus on the role of tribes in the society, culture and politics of the medieval Islamic World. It will consist of partly of a series of lectures and discussion based on articles, and close readings of texts in Arabic.
Assessment and permitted materials
Evaluation will be based on the preparation for the Arabic texts, and participation in discussion about the articles.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
As a prerequisite, students should have at least two years of Arabic in order to participate in the close readings of the Arabic texts.
Examination topics
There is no exam.

Literature for this course will be distributed via moodle.
