Aims, contents and method of the course

Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Übung Covid-19 bedingt in Teilen oder in Gänze online abgehalten werden kann. Weitere Informationen hierzu werden auf Moodle bereitgestellt.

Ziel der Übung ist es, diverse für die Osmanistik relevante (u.a.österreichische) Archive, Bibliotheken, Museen sowie weitere Einrichtungen und deren (online-) Bestände kennenzulernen. In der Übung werden spezifische osmanische Quellen und Medien in ihrem Sammlungszusammenhang vorgestellt und ihre Relevanz für die osmanistische Forschung diskutiert und anhand existierender Forschung exemplifiziert. Auch sollen wahlweise Quellen unterschiedlicher Perioden gelesen, interpretiert und kritisch eingeordnet werden.

Assessment and permitted materials

Aktive Teilnahme, Diskussion der wöchentlichen Lektüre.
Erstellung einer Transkription eines osmanischen Quellentextes (Abgabe 25.01.2021)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Englischkenntnisse und Grundkenntnisse des Osmanischen werden vorausgesetzt.
Anwesenheit (max. 3-mal fehlen) und aktive Mitarbeit.
