Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Ottoman grammar: Persian and Arabic elements in Ottoman; Old Ottoman suffix vocalism.
Accompanying reading of Ottoman texts of medium difficulty.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular preparation of the texts to be read and active participation in class; a mid-term test and a final test at the end of the semester

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular active participation in the course (three absences per semester allowed, not prepared = not present).
Grading key: participation 20%, tests 40% each
Positive grade from 55

Examination topics

Transcription and translation of a short Ottoman text, several theoretical questions conerning Ottoman grammar
