Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

After an introduction to phonology, students are introduced to the main structures of modern New Persian by means of simple dialogues and texts and are familiarised with the basic vocabulary. In addition to conveying a basic theoretical understanding of phonology, morphology and syntax, the course - as part of a basic two semester introduction to the language, is intended to enable students to comprehend modern New Persian texts and to master simple communicative situations. Learning the Persian writing system is an important part of this semester.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance (2 absences will be tolerated) and participation are prerequisites for successful completion of the course. Students are expected to prepare dialogues and texts in time.

The 1st date of the final test (written + oral) takes place in the last unit of the course. The end-of-semester test will be held either online or on-site, depending on the situation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students are expected to have sufficient knowledge of German and English.

Final test: 50%
Participation, preparation: 50%

The examination material includes all practical and theoretical contents of the course.
