Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Goal: knowledge of the basic grammatical structure of Akkadian

Method: lecture and exercises. Regular attendance is strongly recommended!

Contents: overview of the history of Akkadian, mastery of nouns and pronouns plus basic verbal structures, basic cuneiform writing

Important: because of the COVID-19 situation, this course is fully online

Assessment and permitted materials

Written final exam, online (Moodle)
Allowed materials: open book, no cooperation with anyone else allowed

In the event that a final exam must take place digitally, there will be an open book exam instead.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Written exam with 4 questions, 8 points per question.
Grading key:

29-32 = Very good (1)
25-28 = Good (2)
21-24 = Satisfactory (3)
16-20 = Pass (4)
0-15 = Fail (5)

Theory: up to and including p. 29, see German version for a list of the subchapters

Reading list

The course book "Minimalgrammatik des Akkadischen (Altbabylonisch) zur Verwendung in der 'Einführung in das Akkadische' und den 'Übungen zur Einführung'" will be available for purchase in the Institute's administrative office starting in October.

Additional documents will be available on Moodle and further literature will be presented throughout the course.
