Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Reading Turkish texts of intermediate level and precise translation into German. Difficult grammatical structures will be explained and discussed.
Goal: Acquiring a routine in translating Modern Turkish literary texts into German as well as an ability to give the exact equivalent of a Turkish text in German, including style and linguistic level.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance required (missing three times is tolerated); preparing reading material; active participation in class; attending without having prepared the text counts as being absent.
Two intermediate tests and one final test.
Use of dictionaries allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The assessment is composed of attendance and preparation 25% and three tests, each of which counts for 25%.
Each of the tests has a maximum of 100 points.
1 (sehr gut - very good) 100-90 points
2 (gut - good) 89-81 points
3 (befriedigend - satisfactory) 80-71 points
4 (genügend - sufficient) 70-60 points
5 (nicht genügend - failed) 59 points
1st test: 20 April
2nd test: 25 May
3rd test: 29 June

During the first meeting, the subject of which texts to read will be discussed with the students. Suggestions via e-mail (before the first class) will be welcome.
