Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
texts will be discussed and read in class; students are required to prepare for this; in addition, they will give a short presentation on a pertinent topic (15-20 mins). A Seminar paper (or BA Thesis) is required for advanced BA and MA students
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Minimal requirements for receving a pass grade: active participation in class (three classes can be missed; active participation implies: preparation of the texts to be read, participation in the discussions); oral presentation on a given topic and preparation of a seminar paper (including reaction on feedback) in accordance with the indications given by the teacher of the course and in accordance with the rules of best scientific practice. Participation is mandatory, three classes can be missed. Every single contribution is evaluated separately.
50% of the evaluation will depend on the indivual preparation of the texts (transliteration, translation, grammatical analysis); another 30% will depend on the degree and quality of the individual participation in class discussions; another 20% will depend on the quality of the short presentation.
For a BA & MA-seminar that requires a paper: The seminar paper (and, if required, the reaction on feedback) contributes to the final grade by 45%, the oral presentation contributes 20% and regular participation in class, 35%.
