Aims, contents and method of the course

Linguistic principles of Arabic dialectology; history and grouping of Arabic dialects.
Typical phenomena of the dialects spoken in Arabia, Mesopotamia, and the Levant.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation
Transcription, translation, and linguistic analysis of a recording (length 2-3 min). Deadline 31 March 2021.

Change due to Covid-19: oral exam on selected topics.

Written exam (in case of Covid-19 restrictions oral)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation
3 absences tolerated
Test 50% - Essay 50% (both have to be passed)
