Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this seminar is to provide the student with the necessary tools for being capable of understanding the Arabic language in the media, with special focus on news related with politics and society.

We will work with current news related with politics and society (i.e. elections, refugees, natural disasters, explosions, international terrorism, etc.).
After hearing and reading the news, we will analyse all the vocabulary and the most important structures. Then we will practice the new contents.
Also, we will prepare a glossary with the new vocabulary (in Arabic, English and German).

Skills: Speaking skills, reading comprehension and listening comprehension.

Assessment and permitted materials

Laufend aktive Mitarbeit, Vorbereitung von Texten sowie Hausübungen (wie beispielsweise Zusammenstellung eines Glossars zu bestimmtem Thema), mündliche Abschlussprüfung zu Semesterende
Erlaubte Hilfsmittel: für Hausübungen und Vorbereitungen für den Unterricht Wörterbücher (Wehr, Schregle).
Für die mündliche Prüfung sind keine Hilfsmittel erlaubt.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Anwesenheit (max. dreimalige unentschuldigte Abwesenheit), aktive Mitarbeit im Unterricht und Erbringen der Hausübungen bzw. Vorbereitungsarbeit, mündliche Abschlussprüfung; Leistungen werden im Verhältnis 40% (Mitarbeit und Hausübungen) und 60% (Abschlussprüfung) beurteilt.
90 – 100 = Sehr gut
80 – 89 = Gut
70 - 79 = Befriedigend
60 - 69 = Genügend
>60 Nicht genügend

100 – 91 = Sehr gut
79 – 90 = Gut
65 - 78 = Befriedigend
51 - 64 = Genügend
>50 Nicht genügend
