Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will introduce students to the practice of linguistic research: This semester is based on the concept: Every language is unique. Linguistic expression is the mirror of a society with its respective values and ideas.
Students should learn to reflect beyond habitual patterns of behavior and become familiar with the different expectations and needs of language groups. Students will also learn about the diverse structures of grammatical composition, perceive tones as a distinguishing feature of grammatical functions and learn to identify linguistic realities and classify them in a grammatical scheme.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation during the semester and a final examination at the end of the semester are used for grading. For MA students, a short written elaboration of a topic is also required.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

No specific qualifications are required for participation. However, other language skills (other language families) would be an asset. Active participation during the semester is expected.
