Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course you will be supported in the planning and implementation of your master’s thesis. The main part of the colloquium is the discussion of the individual research projects. The participants of the colloquium submit a detailed research design, which is presented and discussed in the colloquium. On the basis of these documents and a short presentation of the contents, the stringency of the argumentation, coverage of the research field, methodological approach and fit to the overall concept of the work are discussed. All participants write a peer review for another work.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular participation (maximum one absence) is 10% of the overall grade
Research design: Achieved performance is 40% of the overall grade
Presentation of research design (PPT with audio commentary): the performance achieved is 30% of the overall grade
Peer Review: Achieved performance is 20% of the overall grade

All tasks must be submitted in PDF format via the Moodle platform with the following file name: Your last name_partial performance.pdf (e.g. Mustermann_Forschungsdesign.pdf). The delivery dates are binding. For research design, presentation and peer review, there is one grade deduction for every commenced day of delay. Further deductions are possible if parts of the task are missing or grossly defective. Delayed submission of the research design will be assessed with a three point deduction for each commenced day of delay. Two weeks after the submission deadline, these partial performances are rated as unsatisfactory.
