Aims, contents and method of the course

1. Introduction to the academic disciplines of East Asian Studies, Political Science and Education Studies
2. Overview and systematic comparison of the political systems in China, Japan and Korea
3. Coaching on how to write an academic paper

Assessment and permitted materials

+ Academic paper, 21 pages (excluding content, references, attachments): 45%
+ Midterm Test: 45%
+ Individual contribution to discussion: 10%
Note: Since discussions are a substantial element of this seminar, attendance is compulsory. Each participant can miss the seminar up to three times; four or more missed sessions lead to an automatic downgrading of the overall score (4 missed classes=1 grade down, 5 missed classes two grades down, etc.)
