The event will take place on site. In the first session (March 14), there will be a brief introduction to the research on rural Japan at the Institute. We will then identify the students' areas of interest, present the course schedule, and discuss the topic assignment for the following sessions.

- Oral presentation (alone or in pairs, depending on the number of participants)
- Written elaboration of own presentation topic (approx. 3-5 pages)
- Active participation in the discussions (incl. preparation of the reading for the respective session)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Presentation, elaboration, active participation. For a positive evaluation all partial performances must be fulfilled!
Attendance is compulsory (>80% attendance). Thus, one (out of seven) session can be missed without excuse. Attendance at the first session counts as taking the exam. If you sign out by March 31 (6pm), you will not be graded. Absence in the first session will result in automatic withdrawal from the course.Grading Key:Presentation: 30%
Elaboration: 50%
Active participation: 20%
